8.33

三破論云。道家之教妙在精思得一。而無死入聖。佛家之化妙在三昧禪通無生可冀。詺死為泥洹。未見學死而不得死者也。

The 'Treatise on the Three Destructions' says: 'The marvel of the Daoist teaching lies in subtle contemplation to attain the One, entering sagehood without death. The marvel of the Buddhist transformation lies in samādhi and dhyāna penetrations, with nothing to hope for from the unborn; they call death nirvāṇa. We have never seen anyone who studies death fail to die.'
