8.46

三破論云。蓋聞三皇五帝三王之徒。何以學道並感應。而未聞佛教。為是九皇忽之。為是佛教未出。若是佛教未出則為邪偽不復云云。

The Treatise on the Three Destructions says: "We have heard that when the likes of the Three Sovereigns, Five Emperors, and Three Kings studied the Way, they all received spiritual resonance, yet we have never heard of the Buddhist teachings. Was it that the Nine Sovereigns neglected it, or was it that the Buddhist teachings had not yet emerged? If the Buddhist teachings had not yet emerged, then they are heterodox and bogus, and need no further discussion."
