8.73

釋曰。釋氏之訓父慈子孝。兄愛弟敬夫和妻柔。備有六睦之美。有何不善。而能破家。唯聞末學道士有赤章呪咀。發擿陰私行壇被髮。呼天引地不問親疎。規相厭殺。此即破家之法矣。

The response says: The instructions of the Śākya clan teach that fathers should be kind and sons filial, elder brothers affectionate and younger brothers respectful, husbands harmonious and wives gentle; they are fully equipped with the beauties of the six concords. What unwholesomeness is there that could destroy a family? We have only heard of the latter-day Daoist practitioners who use red-character curses and imprecations, expose private secrets, process around the altar with disheveled hair, invoking Heaven and citing Earth without regard to kinship or distance, scheming to suppress and kill each other by sorcery—this is truly the method that destroys families.
