具一二縝既背經以起義。乖理以致談。滅聖難以聖責。乖理難以理詰。如此則言語之論略成可息　　右詔答。

'I have noted the points one by one. Zhen has already turned his back on the classics to construct doctrines, and departed from principle in his discourse. When one destroys the sages, it is difficult to hold him to account by the sages; when one departs from principle, it is difficult to cross-examine him by principle. In this case, debates of mere words may roughly cease.'—Response by imperial edict.
