答曰。聖人之教然也。所以從孝子之心。而厲媮薄之意。神而明之。此之謂矣。
[Fan Zhen] replied: This is the sage's teaching being so: it is the means by which to accord with the hearts of filial sons and to encourage those of neglectful and shallow disposition. 'Spiritualizing it and making it illustrious'—this is what it means.
