Zhongxin states: You have condescended to inform and graciously show me the imperial decree replying to a subject regarding the treatise on the extinction of the spirit. Respectfully reading its profound beauty, I can scarcely contain my joy and leaping. The Emperor's sagacious nature comes naturally from Heaven; his spiritual faculties are uniquely far-reaching. The five rites illuminate externally, and the three knowledges shine within. When the golden wheel turns gently, the Dao delivers the eight directions; once the jade libation-cup is arranged, filial piety flourishes in the seven ancestral temples. He reveals the sun of wisdom in the clear Han River of the sky, and spreads the Dharma cloud over the great chiliocosm. The meaning of "as if present" is expounded anew this morning; the clarity of eternal abiding is attested forever into future kalpas. Thus his virtue crowns the hundred kings, and his fame rises above myriad ages. Your disciple has lodged his mind in the Dharma gate and reverently trusts the great canon; my sincere feeling of leaping and dancing goes deeper than the wild ducks playing among the duckweed. Wang Zhongxin bows in reverence.
