Now, the response of sin and blessing to adversity and conformity must certainly correspond without error. If one is benighted regarding this Dao, then heterodoxy and orthodoxy will have no fixed place, and the mind will have no standard to rely upon. As for examining them in the span of a single lifetime, the evidence is diffuse and verifiable tokens are few; principle has no transgression or divergence, yet events are not consistently manifest. How could one not attribute this to past karma and project it to future lifetimes? Therefore, those who have set their minds upon principle discern that the connection of shadow and echo cannot be deceived; discarding worldly proofs, they rest their trust in the unseen. Understanding that the Net of Heaven is vast and wide, they are confident that nothing will slip through. Realizing that the wheel of transmigration is uninterrupted, they blend ten thousand kalpas into a single morning, encompass the three times in profound identity, and hold firm to the certainty of their eventual arrival. How could they alter their minds because of what is manifest or hidden, or reform their thoughts due to what is delayed or swift? This is the very foundation of initial faith, reaching its culmination, and the deep expectation of the karmic mind.
