Rectification: When tranquil resonance penetrates, it must reach through to all living beings. The Buddha, with a single voice, allows beings to receive awakening according to their kind. Why must the transformation among the barbarians be limited to the Three Vehicles? How could the Dao that teaches China be confined to the five teachings? Since the subtle function accords with resonance, the barbarians and the Chinese are not distinct; as for the differences of worldly customs, which one goes against the sage's rule? Thus, though their entrances differ, their teachings are inherently equal.
