10.58

廣答曰。齊君失國有兩義。不由佛法。一則曆數有窮。開闢已來。天下未見不亡之國。二則寵罰失中。君子惡居下流。是以歸周。不由佛法。

Guang answered: "The ruler of Qi losing his state has two causes, neither of which arose from the Buddhadharma. First, the destined calendar has an end: since the opening of the world, never has an undying state been seen under Heaven. Second, favor and punishment lacked moderation: gentlemen loathe dwelling in the lower reaches, and for this reason turned to Zhou. It did not arise from the Buddhadharma."
