11.29

太上靈寶真一勸誡法輪妙經云。吾歷觀諸天。從無數劫來。見道士百姓男子女人。已得無上正真之道。高仙真人自然。十方佛皆受前世勤苦求道。不可稱計。

The Wonderful Scripture on Turning the Wheel of the Law of Exhortation and Admonition of the Supreme Numinous Treasure of True Unity says: 'I have observed the heavens successively since immeasurable eons ago, and have seen Daoist masters, common men, and common women who have already attained the unexcelled, truly authentic Dao, spontaneous as sublime immortals and perfected beings. The Buddhas of the ten directions all accepted diligent, bitter cultivation in seeking the Dao in former lifetimes, in numbers beyond reckoning.'
