At Ciwuchuan, northeast of Yuhua Temple in Fangzhou, there was a resident named Hao Bian during the Wude reign period who had long been a devout believer. Seeing a herd of deer constantly lingering by the mountainside, he found it extraordinary. He dug at that spot and uncovered a stone image fourteen or fifteen feet tall. He moved it out and placed it inside his home in the river valley. Its features were largely identical to the one east of Yuhua Temple. Elders of old handed down the tradition that during the era of Kāśyapa Buddha, over forty images were hidden in this mountain. Now two have appeared, while the rest have not yet emerged (those that appeared in the mountains of Liangzhou are likewise the same).
