15.174

夫三相雷奔八苦電激。或方火宅乍擬駛河。故以尺波寸景大力所不能駐。月御日車雄才莫之能遏。其間飲苦飡毒抱痛銜悲。身口為十使所由。意思乃八疵之主。眾等相與彼我齊到。懺悔業纏。無始以來至于今日。所為十惡自作教他。見善不贊聞惡隨喜。焚林涸澤走犬揚鷹。窮鄭衛之響。極甘旨之味。戲笑為惡倏忽成非。侮慢形像凌踐塔寺。不敬方等毀離和合。自定權衡棄他計用。愧心負理昧主欺親。雖七尺非他方寸。在我而能任其情。在人未易恣此心口。眾罪所集各運丹懇。五體自投歸命敬禮。云云。

Now, the three characteristics rush like thunder, and the eight sufferings strike like lightning; they are compared to a burning house, or likened to a swift river. Therefore, a foot of wave or an inch of sunlight cannot be halted by great strength, nor can the chariots of the moon and sun be stopped by heroic might. Meanwhile, one drinks suffering and eats poison, nursing pain and harbouring grief; the body and mouth are the sources of the ten driving defilements, and the mind is the master of the eight faults. Together, one and all with equal devotion, let us repent our karmic fetters. From the beginningless past until this day, regarding the ten evil acts committed by ourselves or taught to others: seeing good and not praising it, hearing evil and rejoicing in it; burning forests and draining marshes, coursing hounds and flying falcons; indulging to the utmost the sounds of Zheng and Wei, exhausting the flavours of sweets and delicacies; making sport of doing evil, suddenly falling into transgression; showing contempt for holy images, trampling upon stupas and monasteries; disrespecting the Mahāyāna scriptures, disrupting and dividing the saṅgha; setting one's own scales of judgment and disregarding the reckoning of others; with a shameful mind betraying principle, deceiving our sovereign and misleading our parents. Although the seven-foot body is not external and the square-inch heart rests within oneself, yet yielding to its passions, when it comes to others one cannot easily indulge such mind and mouth. For the accumulation of all these sins, let each bring forth sincere earnestness, cast their five limbs to the ground, take refuge and pay homage, and so forth.
