水性本無泡。激流遂聚沫。即異成貌狀。消散歸虛豁。君子識根本。安事勞與奪。愚俗駭變化。橫復生欣怛。

The nature of water originally has no bubbles; / yet the surging current gathers into foam. / Taking on distinct appearances, / they dissolve and return to empty openness. / The noble person recognizes the root and source: / why bother with gains and losses? / The foolish and vulgar are startled by transformations, / pointlessly giving rise to joy and grief.
