17.78

洺州表云。舍利三月十一日天降甘澤。十三日乃止。有戒德沙門僧猛。先患腰脚不堪出行。其日聞舍利欲到。合寺馳走。僧猛自身抱患不得奉迎。命弟子法藏扶侍出戶。迴心正念遂便得起行。出城十里許親迎舍利。因此瘳降漸堪得行。

The memorial from Mingzhou stated: On the eleventh day of the third month, heaven sent down sweet rain for the relics, stopping only on the thirteenth day. There was a monk of precept-virtue, Sengmeng, who previously suffered from a lumbar and leg ailment and was unable to walk. On that day, hearing that the relics were about to arrive, the entire temple rushed out; Sengmeng, afflicted with his ailment, was unable to welcome them, so he ordered his disciple Fazang to support him out the door. Turning his mind toward right mindfulness, he was immediately able to stand up and walk, going out of the city about ten li to welcome the relics in person; because of this, his illness receded, and he gradually became able to walk.
