眾生歷涉三世。其猶循環。過去未來雖無眼對。其理常在。是以聖人尋往以知往。逆數以知來。

Sentient beings traverse the three periods of time like a cycle. Although past and future have no confrontation before the eyes, their principle constantly exists. Therefore, the Sage investigates the past to know what has gone, and counts in reverse to know what is to come.
