Your subject says: Having received the various points of doctrine expounded by Your Majesty, I find that their principle and flavor are profound and abstruse, and their literary expression pure and superior. Their conciseness and penetrative reach surpass the Two Chapters, and their wondrous exhaustiveness rivals the Madhyamaka-śāstra. Chanting and contemplating them, the paper has already been worn with toil, yet my mind remains insatiable. They truly may be called the noble song of our age and the supreme model for countless kalpas! But your subject is ignorant and dim; my thinking does not participate in the abstruse. Yet during the days I unfolded and examined them, I truly had no spare time from chanting and singing them. I never expected that in Your vast benevolence and skillful guidance, You would deign to have me join in raising queries and difficulties. Daring to forget my foolishness and dullness, I respectfully set forth what is in my heart. How could I presume to harbor objections? I merely wish to inquire about what I have not yet comprehended. Your subject speaks.
