26.74

問不得以理中見。答若理中為論。眾僧不應市魚肉。今所問事中是疑不。答若約教非疑問市中人為誰殺。答乃為買者殺。但買者不作此想。

It was asked: 'You cannot argue from principle. If discussed in terms of principle, the monastic assembly should not purchase fish and meat. What is now being asked is: in terms of the actual facts, is it suspicious or not?' He replied: 'Based on the teaching, it is not suspicious.' It was asked: 'For whom do the people in the market kill?' He replied: 'It is indeed killed for the buyer, but the buyer does not form this thought.'
