飾玩細滑人所保著。而能精麁無礙。安身養體人所共同。而能忘形捨命。眠臥是人所不免。而晝夜不寢為業。恣口朋遊人所恒習。而處靜自檢。

Fine ornaments and smooth fabrics are what people cherish and cling to, yet they are unhindered whether [things are] fine or coarse. Pacifying the body and nourishing the physical form are what all people share, yet they are able to forget the physical form and relinquish their lives. Sleep is what people cannot avoid, yet they make not sleeping day and night their regular practice. Indulging the palate and socializing with companions are what people habitually do, yet they dwell in quietude and inspect themselves.
