If one dwells in the mountains practicing dhūta austerities, one attains the Buddha's mark of having all worldly defilements completely extinguished. If one abandons splendid halls for secluded forests to engage in dhyāna contemplation, sentient beings call it suffering and cannot practice it; the bodhisattva's intention is firm and resolute, what he aspires to is great, and he does not consider it suffering. Therefore, he attains spontaneous palaces and seven-jeweled chambers, swiftly attaining buddhahood. Sentient beings still transmigrate of their own accord in the ocean of birth and death; how could this not be brought about by their entanglement in upside-down delusions? Therefore, one should diligently redouble vigorous effort to practice this path, and thereupon transcend the three realms.
