Examining it, true liberation is originally unproduced; genuine wisdom is even now unextinguished. Thus we know that the grove of cranes changing color was not a text of alteration, and the Vulture Peak being ever-present is truly the dharma of eternal abiding. Yet because worlds are not uniform, responses to summons are inexhaustible; because sentient beings are limitless, skillful means are boundless. Following thoughts and according with attachments, various Dharma gates are displayed individually in response to karma and mind. At times, the posture of sitting upright for eighty small kalpas has not shifted; yet just when eight thousand years have arrived, the juncture of [nirvāṇa] without remainder is reached. By the side of the Hiraṇyavatī River, the morning colors suddenly brighten; amidst the śāla trees, the midnight voice falls silent. The ultimate merits took place on this very day and at this very hour.

I, your disciple, having karmic connections with Jambudvīpa, have been charged with this heavy burden. Pitying the inversion of the masses of living beings and lamenting the foolish delusion of the common folk, I ever wish to construct the boat of the six perfections to ferry them to the other shore, and to mount the carriage of the One Vehicle to drive them along the Middle Way. Now, reverently in the Taiji Hall, I establish an unhindered great assembly, a one-night Great Śāla Fast with a hundred monks. I vow that the Dharma rain and Dharma clouds may cool the fires of the three realms, and that the lamp of wisdom and torch of wisdom may illumine the chamber of a hundred years. May the two words 'eternal abiding' be heard together by humans and devas; may the three dots of the letter 'I' be realized alike by the ordinary and the holy. No trouble is needed for Kāśyapa's question, nor is there wait for Subhadra's doubts. With the all-inclusive wisdom as the root and immeasurable merit for self-adornment, may the wish-fulfilling tree of the mind blossom with the flowers of liberation, and the bodily field hold the waters of samādhi and wisdom. May we dwell in auspicious lands, resting upon grounds of blessed merit; stand firm alongside the two primal forces [of yin and yang], and receive blessings in accordance with the four seasons. May the devaputras of the sun and moon shine like matched jade disks across the trichiliocosm; may the palaces of the stars and constellations scatter linked pearls across the hundred billion [realms]. May the gentle rain of compassion drift together with auspicious breezes; may the precious clouds of bodhi arrive united with floating mist. May the six directions and four seas no longer suffer defiling toil, and may the six realms and four forms of birth all receive purity.
