Xiaoxu read extensively across all books; there was nothing he was not skilled at. His vigor was immense and his memory keen, making him the authority for scholars. He composed the Seven Records, the Reduction of Superfluities, and other works totaling one hundred and eighty-one fascicles, all of which circulated in the world. The arrangement of Buddhism and Daoism as chapters on the transcendent realm originated with this.
