臣約言。臣抱疾彌留。迄今即化。形神欲離月已十數。窮楚極毒無言以喻。平日健時不言若此。舉刀坐劍比此為輕。仰惟深入法門。厲茲苦節。內矜外恕。寔本人情。伏願聖心重加推廣。微臣臨塗無復遺恨。雖慚也善。庶等鳴哀。謹啟。

Your servant Yue states: Your servant has long been afflicted with lingering illness, and has now arrived at the point of transformation. My body and spirit have sought to part for more than ten months; the extremity of suffering and the utmost torment cannot be conveyed in words. In ordinary times when healthy, I did not speak like this: raising a blade or sitting upon a sword would be light in comparison to this. Looking upward, I reflect that delving deep into the Dharma-gate and strictly observing these bitter austerities, pitying within and forgiving without, truly accords with human feelings. I prostratingly pray that Your Majesty's sage mind will further extend this broadly; then your humble servant, arriving at the crossroads of death, will harbor no remaining regret. Though ashamed to claim any good, I hope to be counted among those who utter their dying lament. Respectfully submitted.
