秦郡人。出家住楊都治城寺。有才學。為宋廬陵王所知。著均善論（一云白黑論）其論難窮通。後法義篇備之矣。大較云。但知六度與五教並行。信順與慈悲齊立。殊塗同歸。不得守其發足之轍也。

A man of Qin commandery. He left home and resided at Zhicheng Monastery in the capital of Yang. Having talent and learning, he was appreciated by the Prince of Luling of the Song dynasty. He composed the Treatise on Equalising the Good (also called the Treatise on White and Black). Its argumentation is difficult to exhaust thoroughly; it is fully recorded in the subsequent chapter on doctrinal meanings. Its general import states: one need only know that the six perfections and the five teachings proceed side by side, and that trustworthiness and obedience stand equal with loving-kindness and compassion; though their paths differ, they converge on the same goal, and one must not cling stubbornly to the tracks from which one first set out.
