神仙金液經云。金液還丹。太上所服。而神今燒水銀。還復為丹。服之得仙。白日昇天。求仙不得。此道徒自苦耳（燒丹成水銀。燒水銀成丹。故曰還丹）昔韓終服之。面作金色。

The Shenxian jinye jing says: 'The Returned Elixir of Golden Liquor is what Taishang consumes. Yet the spirits now fire mercury and restore it back into elixir. Consuming it, one attains immortality and ascends to heaven in broad daylight. If one seeks immortality and cannot attain it, this is merely a Daoist torturing himself in vain (firing elixir produces mercury, and firing mercury produces elixir; hence it is called 'Returned Elixir'). In the past, Han Zhong consumed it, and his face took on a golden color.'
