When the sun is in the Kunwu mountains, thoughts are complicated and affairs perturbing; but when the light sinks into the Mengfan waters, the spirit is still and the mind tranquil. Jade moon and pearl stars unite their radiance to shine upon one another; light clouds and thin mists brightly recede of themselves. The sounding bell sends forth floating reverberations; radiant lamps burst into splendor. The Dharma banners roll and unroll, brushing against the lofty pavilions as they gently flutter. Exquisite incense is richly fragrant, wafting out through multiple curtains and softly swirling. The golden adornments reflect the light; the pearled pillars show vibrant hues. How much more so when the Heavenly Honoured One sits upright and majestic, His awe-inspiring light illuminating the four quarters, radiant like a blue lotus, graceful like jade-white snow! One feels as though the Jetavana were only inches away, as though the Śāla Grove were present right here. Guests who have left behind defilements are summoned in great numbers; companions who are Arhats gather widely. Pure chanting is softly modulated, where a single stanza brings forth three sighs of praise; the profound meanings are enunciated with cadence, an unbroken chain without pause. The Prince of Nanping embodies the agility of discerning opportune moments and is endowed with the subtlety of entering into the marvelous. Embracing virtue and harboring harmony, he takes benevolence as the warp and righteousness as the weft. Of goods, none is so minute that he does not exhaust it; of entanglements, wherever there is one so slight, he unfailingly abandons it. His reception is like an empty pipe; his illumination is like a hanging mirror. He forgets the lofty status of Lu and Wei, and puts aside the splendid weight of brothers of the royal house. He establishes an exceptionally rare and superior assembly and attends this hard-to-encounter Dharma arena. Together, let us bow five-limbed to the ground, take refuge, and pay homage, and so forth.
