Your servant Tong reports: Wang Huibao, Proclaimer of the Imperial Decree, has reverently proclaimed the imperial decree, graciously bestowing the Imperial Commentary on the Mahāsaṃnipāta-sūtra in two cases and sixteen fascicles. Amṛta enters the crown of my head; the water of wisdom irrigates my heart. It is like meeting light in the dark, or obtaining food when starving. Prostrate, I consider that neither the form nor the desire realms share the same quarter; beyond form and beyond principle, the three vehicles gather like clouds. The four unhindered eloquence cannot exhaust it in speech; the eight qualities of voice cannot fathom it in proclamation. Condescending to meet the heavenly capacity, this sagely work was produced. Identical with suchness, it is without end; hanging together with the sun and moon, it shines. It is just like seeing Mount Baoshong or obtaining a pearl from the great ocean. How could your servant truly be worthy of constantly receiving this guidance? Opening paper and unrolling the brush are hardly enough to express my heart; raising sleeves and uttering prolonged cries cannot suffice for songs and dances. Unable to bear the height of my joyful gratitude, I respectfully submit this memorial of thanks. Respectfully reported.
