Eighth, regarding exorcisms at tomb gates: These are the lingering vapors of heterodox paths. They perform tomb-gate exorcisms, sacrifice to the stove and soil shrines at the spring and autumn equinoxes, and make sacrifices at the winter and summer solstices following vulgar customs. When first receiving the registers of parish governance, military tallies, and shrine contracts, they all speak of generals, clerks, and soldiers, completely devoid of any moral instruction or precepts.
