褚信奉問曰。若佛道是真應無形色。云何圖畫其像。以此驗之。定非虛無自然之宗。

Zhu [Shan]xin respectfully asked, 'If the Buddha's path is true, it ought to be without form and color. Why then paint his image? Testing it by this, it is certainly not the tradition of emptiness and spontaneity.'
