褚信問曰。不審帝說涅槃是何句義。帝曰。涅槃無為淡泊自然。此四者一味耳。如似眼目異名焉。
Zhu [Shan]xin asked, 'I do not understand what the Emperor means by the term nirvāṇa.' The Emperor said, 'Nirvāṇa, non-action, tranquility, spontaneity—these four are of a single taste, like different names for the eye.'
