帝謂道士曰。卿等不聞。益州部內有鍾山。亡命賊在於山澤放縱自由。謂無過者。及其臺軍討罰形勢不立。卿等今者亦復如是。爾時太傅張衍語褚信曰。卿今捔試無一効驗。即是虛妄。宜就西域真法。

The Emperor said to the Daoist masters, "Have you not heard that within the region of Yizhou there is Mount Zhong? Fugitive brigands indulged themselves freely in its mountains and marshes, claiming none could overcome them. Yet when the imperial forces came to punish them, their position collapsed. You today are just like this." At that time, Grand Tutor Zhang Yan addressed Zhu Shanxin, saying, "In your trial of skill today, not a single proof succeeded; this means it is hollow and false. You ought to turn to the true Dharma of the Western Regions."
