夫三寶利見其來久矣。但以信毀相競。故有感應之緣。自漢泊唐年餘六百。靈相肹嚮群錄可尋。而神化無方待機而扣。光瑞出沒。開信於一時。景像垂容。陳迹於萬代。或見於既往。或顯於將來。昭彰於道俗。生信於迷悟。故撮舉其要。三卷成部云。

The beneficial appearance of the Three Jewels has an ancient origin. Yet because faith and denigration vie with one another, there are conditions for sympathetic responses. From the Han until the Tang, for more than six hundred years, numinous signs have been felt afar, as can be sought throughout various records. The divine transformations are without fixed bounds, awaiting an opportune juncture to be stirred into response. Luminous auspicious signs appear and vanish, inspiring faith in their own time; majestic images cast down their forms, displaying traces for ten thousand generations. Some appear in the past, and some are manifested in the future, brightly displayed before both monastics and laity, generating faith among both the deluded and the awakened. Therefore, I have gathered the essentials and formed this work in three fascicles.
