八洛都故都塔者。在城西一里。故白馬寺南一里許古基。俗傳為阿育王舍利塔。疑即迦葉摩騰所將來者。降邪通正故立塔表以傳真云云。

Eight: The ancient capital stūpa of Luoyang is an ancient foundation one li west of the city and about one li south of the old Baima Temple. Popular tradition holds it to be a King Aśoka śarīra stūpa. It is suspected to be the one brought by Kāśyapa Mātaṅga; to subjugate heterodoxy and propagate the correct [teaching], a stūpa was erected as a sign to transmit the true [Dharma], and so on.
