In the fifth year of the Ganlu era of the Deposed Emperor of Wei, the śramaṇa Zhu Shixing was lecturing on the Astasāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, lamenting that its chapters and verses were incomplete. In this year he went to the Western Regions to search for it, and obtained it. People there made difficulties and would not allow it to return east. Shixing held the scriptures in the royal court and said, 'If the Great Dharma is truly not to be transmitted, let it be committed to fire!' He then threw the leaf scriptures into the fire, and not a single part was damaged. The entire country revered this marvel, and [the text] then reached the Eastern Xia; this was the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā Sūtra. At eighty years of age he died. When cremated according to the Dharma, after a whole day the body was not consumed. Monastics and laity marveled at it, and then formulated an incantation, saying, 'If you truly attained the Way, according to the Dharma your body ought to disintegrate.' Thereupon, responding to the words, it broke into pieces. They then gathered [the relics] and erected a stūpa, so it is said.
