又曰。三衣破緣而縫。江表咸然。此何不爾。余曰。四分無文。故絕三縫。答十誦有文。何得不用此制。有以不可不行云云。

He also said: "Sewing the three robes by cutting the borders is done everywhere in the region south of the Yangtze. Why is it not done here?" I said: "The Sifen lü has no text for it, hence we eliminate the three seams." He replied: "The Shisong lü has a text for it; how can this rule not be used? There is reason why it cannot fail to be practiced, and so forth."
