Emperor Wu of Western Wei (taboo name Xiu): He thoroughly probed mathematics and divination, and was equally adept at martial arts. He grasped the essential purport of ascending to the truth, and venerated the profound principle of transcending the world. In the first year of the Yongxi reign era, he constructed Zhiqi Temple in Chang'an, providing for two hundred celebrated monks, where lectures and recitations were held through the four seasons virtually without an idle day.
