幼稱令譽。長號通人。家有賜書。門標衛戟。供奉四帝終始一心。義重龍文。財輕蟬翼。折獄動哀矜之念。臨下盡寬和之仁。而護持三寶體達五家。造寺建齋以為常業。
In his youth he was renowned for his fine reputation, and in maturity he was hailed as an all-around talent. His household was bestowed with imperial writings, and his gates were marked with guardian halberds. Serving four emperors, he was single-minded from beginning to end. He valued righteousness as heavy as a dragon-inscribed sword and regarded wealth as light as cicada wings. In adjudicating cases he was moved by feelings of pity and mercy; in overseeing subordinates he exhausted forbearance, harmony, and benevolence. Yet he protected and maintained the Three Jewels and fully comprehended the illusory nature of worldly possessions. Constructing temples and holding vegetarian feasts, he made these his constant endeavor.
