His aspiration and insight were noble and far-reaching; his character and bearing braved the frost. Participating in the foundation of governance, he was early entrusted with the imperial guard. He applied his mind without laxity, and in upholding the law he showed no favoritism to relatives. He renounced his own residence to turn it into this pure realm; ungrudging of material wealth, he constantly established fields of merit.
