Jingmen is an eminent realm; Chu's border is a divine territory. It is where sterns and prows converge, a thoroughfare of water and land. It was entrusted only to the benevolent; though related [to the throne], he did not claim it for self-interest. Publishing governance and proclaiming statutes, all declared their reliance upon him. Bathed from afar in his pure breeze, his glorious achievements were widely heard. The people sang verses of his coming too late and all presented odes of their longing after his departure. He opened this land of blessings and established this sanctuary of benevolence. The moon pavilion casts its glow, and the pearl terrace radiates brilliance; blossoms open on the whitened walls, and lotuses bloom in the circular pool. As for the portraits of Vimalakīrti by Lady Zheng and of Sukhavatī by Lord Sun, both are peerless marvels that exhaust the art of painting.
