胙土開家。俾侯建國。少懷伊霍之志。長叶廉藺之風。唐舉知其相秦。郭賀稱其輔漢。聰明神粹。器局淹弘。納比吞流。照同懸鏡。英俊天挺。頴拔自然。至於推斥九流咀嚼三古。挹衢罇而不竭。運蒼海而無窮。方朔虞延恥諸魁岸。魯匡朝錯慚。斯智囊。郁郁美其為文。桓桓壯其用武。弼諧之力燮理之功。無以加也。而尊重正覺。開獎法門。俸祿所資並營淨業。揆赤霄而興象殿。陵倒景而起鍾臺。七寶之堂九層之塔。高臨漢表。上出雲端。布濩名花綿蠻吉鳥。善能留目。甚暢遊情。播美關中。傳名海內。

Endowed with lands to establish his house, he was ennobled as a marquis to found a fief. In youth he cherished the ambitions of Yi Yin and Huo Guang; in maturity he matched the conduct of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru. Tang Ju foresaw that he would serve as minister to Qin; Guo He declared that he would assist Han. Discerning, wise, and spiritual in essence, his capacity was vast and magnanimous. In accommodating others he rivaled the swallowing of rivers; in illuminating matters he was like a suspended mirror. Heroic and endowed by Heaven, his preeminence was natural. Regarding his engagement with the nine philosophical schools and mastery of the three antiquities, he scooped from the thoroughfare flagon without exhaustion and turned the blue sea without end. Dongfang Shuo and Yu Yan would feel ashamed before his grandeur; Kuang Heng and Chao Cuo would blush before this sack of wisdom. Richly elegant, he was praised for his literary arts; martial and resolute, he was formidable in deploying military might. His power in aiding harmony and his merit in ordering governance were unsurpassed. Yet he revered the Rightly Awakened One and opened and encouraged the Dharma gates. What he provided from his official stipends was entirely applied to managing pure deeds. Measuring the crimson empyrean, he raised an image hall; ascending above the inverted shadows, he erected a bell tower. His seven-jeweled halls and nine-storied pagodas soared high into the Han sky and emerged above the clouds. Renowned flowers were spread in profusion, and auspicious birds sang sweetly. They truly captured the eye and greatly gladdened the strolling spirit. His fame was spread across Guanzhong, and his reputation resounded throughout the realm.
