Both, being members of the imperial clan, were broadly versed in antiquity and studied literature. Both established places of the Way (bodhimaṇḍas), where fasts and lectures succeeded one another without cease. Mixing ink with scented juice, they copied one hundred copies of the Avataṃsaka-sūtra, and one copy of the Avataṃsaka-sūtra in gold characters on white silk. All were housed in five-incense cabinets and four-jewel caskets.
