4.31

喜慍不形。沈敏好學。仁厚至孝造次不渝。讀一切經凡得三遍。造愛敬寺以答二皇。為眾經抄一十五卷。歸心委命。志在法城。

Neither joy nor anger showed on his face. He was profound, acute, and fond of learning; benevolent, kind, and supremely filial, he did not waver even in moments of urgency. He read the entire canon of sūtras three times through. He built the Aijing Monastery to repay the two emperors, and compiled fifteen fascicles of excerpts from various sūtras. Entrusting his heart and devoting his life, his aspiration lay within the fortress of the Dharma.
