4.81

本漢中山。靖王之胤。涉漢已來肇有豐國。因侯而氏。遂號陳焉。造祇園等。寺常營齋講。及施悲田。

Originally from Zhongshan of the Han, he was a descendant of Prince Jing. Since passing into the Han, their lineage first had Fengguo; taking a surname from their marquisate (hou), they were eventually called Chen. He built monasteries such as the Qiyuan Monastery, constantly holding fasts and lectures, as well as giving to the field of compassion.
