According to the Daoist retreat rites of the Golden Register, Jade Register, Yellow Register, and the eight retreat methods of Cavern Spirit, Spontaneity, and others, there are only the festivals of the Three Primes, wherein one reports merits, promotes advancement, submits petitions reporting merit, and at the Three Assemblies men and women record their native places and household registries to request protection. The fifth day of the first month is the Festival of the Upper Prime; the fifth day of the seventh month is the Festival of the Middle Prime; the fifth day of the tenth month is the Festival of the Lower Prime. Exactly when arriving at these days, Daoist masters present memorials to report to the Heavenly Offices, hoping to achieve advancement, prolong their years, and augment their lifespans. The fifteenth day of the seventh month is not a Daoist festival.
