某惶恐啟。去歲因使者北還。嘗得上狀。諒必已呈高明。即辰伏惟台候嘉勝。高陽政治簡靜安衛。道氣必益得妙理。某山栖幽陋。且此潛密。第愧違遠風儀。茲為眷然。祕校告往榮侍輒此少申卑素之萬一。惟冀鑒念。不宣。

In trepidation I, [Qisong], state: Last year, through an envoy returning north, I was able to send a memorial, which I trust was surely presented to your brilliant discernment. At this moment, I humbly hope your exalted health is exceptionally fine. The governance of Gaoyang is simple and tranquil, peaceful and secure; your spirit of the Dao must surely attain the wondrous principle all the more. As I dwell obscurely in the mountains, remaining hidden and secluded here, I only feel ashamed of being distant from your refined bearing, and for this I am constantly longing. As the Collator of Texts has announced his departure to attend upon you in your glory, I take this opportunity to convey a ten-thousandth part of my humble sincerity.
