某惶恐啟。昨日奉蒙降訪客舍。仰荷尊賜不任感愧。但以老弊弗堪人事。未果即趨几下。謹令弟子馳啟上謝。伏惟少垂鑒念。不宣。

With trepidation I state: Yesterday I was favored by your condescending visit to my guest quarters. Receiving your revered kindness, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and shame. Yet being old and worn out, I am unequal to worldly courtesies and could not immediately hasten before your table. I have respectfully sent a disciple to ride swiftly with this letter to convey my gratitude. I humbly hope that you will briefly grant me your gracious consideration. [Respectfully,] no further.
