某啟。比老以衰恙告免住持。特蒙垂訪。過形存恤。仰荷道眷。豈勝感愧。尚以夏制未遑前禮。謹奉啟上謝。

I state: Recently, because of age and frail health, I submitted my resignation as abbot. You specially favored me with a visit and showered me with abundant sympathy. Receiving your spiritual kindness, how could I overcome my gratitude and shame? Still constrained by the summer retreat, I have not had the leisure to pay my respects in person. I respectfully present this letter to convey my gratitude.
