Master Han wrote the 'Biography of Mao Ying' (the Brush), and the historians criticized him for it. The Book of Documents says: 'Where virtue flourishes, one does not make light of or treat others with contempt.' It also says: 'Trifling with men degrades one's virtue; trifling with things saps one's purpose.' Was Master Han not treating things with contempt and trifling with them? Could that be called virtue?
