悠哉楊執戟。識遠才絕奇。初提草玄筆。頗為人所嗤。卓卓孔孟道。謝爾平嶮巇。玉鑑含幽光。千載方葳蕤。寄語曠懷士。未達休嗟咨。心期道自貴。俗態勢焉隨。青山保長往。白日貞可窺。高標謝松柏。孤芳操弗移。

How leisurely was Yang the halberd-bearer! / His insight was far-reaching, his talent utterly extraordinary. / When he first took up his brush to draft the Mysterious, / He was quite mocked by others. / The towering Way of Kong and Meng / Dismissed your leveling of steep heights. / The jade mirror holds a hidden radiance; / Only after a thousand years does it flourish brilliantly. / Send word to broad-minded scholars: / When unappreciated, do not sigh in grief! / Look toward the mind, for the Way is noble of itself; / Why follow vulgar attitudes and shifts of power? / The green mountains ensure one can go away forever; / The white sun may be chastely gazed upon. / Lofty standards leave behind the pine and cypress; / Solitary fragrance holds its integrity unmoved.
