高臥西林月。孤閒獨見君。杖藜探㵎水。欹枕看山雲。鹿過何人見。猿啼只自聞。篇章知幾首。寄我莫辭勤。

Reclining high beneath the moon of the Western Forest, / in solitary leisure I meet only you. / With a goosefoot staff, you explore the ravine waters; / resting on your pillow, you gaze upon mountain clouds. / When deer pass, who sees them? / When gibbons wail, one hears them only by oneself. / Who knows how many verses you have composed? / In sending them to me, do not shrink from the effort.
