19.30

為因緣而出現世間。咸宗鷲嶺。以文章而黼黻聖諦。惟尚鐔津。深窮萬法之原。同入三乘之藏。讀之可以開人天之眼目。統之可以掃儒釋之藩籬。好書而不好此書。孰謂好學。明道而不明斯道。豈曰明心。欲重刻雲間益廣傳于天下。致永叔黎明之見。名重一時。遭仁宗天縱之資。功垂萬古。群賢既遇。勝事當成。

Appearing in the world due to causes and conditions, / all take Vulture Peak as their ancestral source; / adorning the noble truth with literary brilliance, / we esteem only Tanjin. / Deeply exhausting the source of the ten thousand dharmas, / together entering the treasury of the three vehicles: / reading it can open the eyes of humans and devas; / synthesizing it can sweep away the boundaries between Confucians and Buddhists. / To love books yet not love this book—who could call that a love of learning? / To understand the Way yet not understand this Way—how could that be called understanding the mind? / We desire to recarve it in Yunjian to spread it more widely throughout the world. / It brought about Yongshu's dawning realization, / his renown carrying great weight for an era; / it met with Emperor Renzong's divinely endowed gifts, / his merit extending down through myriad ages. / Now that the assembly of worthies has gathered, / this excellent undertaking shall surely be accomplished.
